GOODBYE 2010 - HELLO 2011

This year has been a year of struggle and a year of joy. We have lost this year my Father in Law and one of my Sister in Laws, I had surgery, and my husband had surgery. My father was hospitalized, but made it out one more time - we all are so grateful! My oldest started High school and became a Cadet at the Civil Air Patrol, while my youngest made Cheer Captain for the second time in Middle School and started Babysitting.

What will 2011 bring? Only God knows and for us to find out. One thing I am sure of is that 2011 will be another year of unknowns and unexpected events.

I am now a Design Team Member of 3 Designers, so watch out for a lot layouts and cards created by me and maybe even a Quick page every now and than :)

I am also learning how to create templates for digital scrapbooking, which means I will be sharing those with you all this year, too.

If I am lucky this year will be the start to a brand line of me doing business. Not sure if it will pan out or not, but I sure will try to see if it something I would like to do for future years to come!

Now, does that mean I will give up all my other hobbies? Nope, not at all. Sure would love to get one of the quilts finished I started way back, now THAT would really be awesome. Would also love to work on some more baby blankets. Oh!!!! AND my wish list for 2011 also includes to start working on a blanket for my son and get started on a purple quilt for my daughter.

LOL we will see in one year, what I can check of my craft wish list :)

Wishing you all have a wonderful and healthy Year 2011.

Black Friday Weekend

Well, last Friday was my very first Black Friday shopping. Got up at 3 am, arrived at the store at 4 am - and WHAT?????? My first thought upon arrival was, wow so many stores have so many people waiting to get it. Parked the car, walk to the store, just to find out that all those people at the other end of the shopping center all wanted to get into Target. Guess I am not really yet a real American haha. Hanna and I (yes, Hanna came with me - she loves going shopping, no matter what time of the day LOL) walked all the way to the end of the line and made it inside the store within 10 minutes, not to bad. Got great deals on most of the stuff that was on our list, so we are very happy!

Saturday we had to drop Ian of at his friends house, they needed to work on some homework presentation for their Religion class, so off Hanna and I went yet once again. Got her a nice leather jacket, that she wanted and just strolled through the Westfield Topanga mall. Boy has it been a long time since I went to a mall, usually I am just in and out.

Sunday was just staying home and doing nothing, well, that's not really true, I did a bit of scrapping, got to work these last few days on this gorgeous Christmas inspiration kit and just searched the internet for stuff. Found I desperately need the next class from Jessica Sprague, so I can start creating my very own templates and get my foot into digital designing. If all oes well I plan to become a designer in 2012, so wish me luck!

Thanksgiving Thoughts

This year has been a very eventful year. Good things have happened and sad things have happened.

After learning digital scrapping beginning of this year, I wasn't stoppable for a while. It is just way to much fun to create layouts without making a mess and while being able to be around my family, instead of being tucked in a corner in the front of the house.

I love digital scrapbooking :)

In March of this year we lost my father in law. He passed away peacefully in his bed. It was very hard for Val, my husband, because now both of his parents are gone.

June I had surgery to have my thyroids removed. Recovery very speedy and without pain pills. Can you believe that I didn't needed any pain killers after the surgery. The nurses kept on coming into my room and offering them to me, telling me I didn't needed to be brave. But I wasn't trying to be brave, I just didn't had any bad pain. I was just blessed that way.

My father was hospitalized this summer, because of retaining to much water in his body. For a while it was touch and go, but we are blessed to have him still around. He is now back home for a while and doing o.k. I can't wait to see my parents again next year.

Ian finished Middle School in June and started High school late July. He is a different kid, loves High school and all it has to offer. In August he became a Cadet in C.A.P., the Civil Air Patrol and loves going there every week and helping out at different events, like a Veteran Dinner and Child Car seats Safety. I am so happy for him to have found something that he is really interested in.

Hanna is now in her last year of Middle School. She became for the second time around a Cheer leading Captain and loves cheer leading with all her heart. She can't wait to become a cheerleader in High school, too.

In October hubby had back surgery, where he is still recovering from. He is feeling already a lot better and I am so grateful that he made it through the surgery o.k. I am looking forward spending many more years with my love and best friend. Who knows, maybe in time we can go traveling and camping. It would be so much fun.

November 6th, my sister in law Lally passed away after a long fight with breast cancer. We miss her, but we are glad that her suffering has ended and that she is now with Jesus.

I am so grateful for my family, for our annual Thanksgiving turkey, that I look already forward to feast on this afternoon. What a great life to live.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Scrapbooking

Last Saturday I finally were able to get together with some of my scrapbook friends again. Our local crops are not happening anymore, because we all have gotten to busy, some moved away and less and less of us were able to attend. However, I really miss scrapbooking with my friends.I miss the conversations, the friendship, the camaraderie, the stories we shared, the laughters ... and the food!

Last Saturday I attended the huge crop at the CHA Craft Show. It was so much fun to just scrap again, and I mean paper scrap again. The door prizes were awesome. In the matter of fact I could have left all my paper at home, because I ended up using only the paper that we got as one of the door prizes from Heidi Grace (Reagan's Closet). The colors and the texture of her newest collection is just plain awesome! It inspired me so much, that I couldn't help myself, but use it up for all of my layouts. I was just drawn to those papers. Here is one of the layouts I created:

I put the journaling into circles that I pop dotted and doodled around. Just wished you could see and feel this paper, it is great to work with.

A productive Day

Last night I just played around a little, not really knowing what I was going to do. Decided randomly on some Christmas photos and when I saw these all the sudden it all came together. Love this LO!

It's Friday

A whole week has gone by and I hadly did any scrapbooking. Times are tough right now, to many things going on. It's hard to relax and concentrate on projects I need to do and promised to do for friends. Well, there is always another week to do what needs to be done, so wish me luck :)

Here is a Layout I finished after struggling to find just the right colors/papers/embellishments. Enjoy!

Blog Background

Boy, did I had a hard time finding just the right background for my blog. Nothing is really me, know what I mean? Some I liked, but when I put them up, they were either to dingy, or to flashy or to boring ... you name it. Well, the background I ended up with is a little like me, because it has doodle flowers and I love doodling. So until I find the perfect background that I really like, this is going to be it :) Let me know how you like it.

Decisions

We made it safe and sounds back from Big Bear last night, but now I can't decide if I should work on a paper layout or a digital layout. Decisions - decisions - decisiont :(

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

Thank goodness it is 2010

The last 6 month have been very hectic and unpredictable. The decision of getting away for Christmas and New Year was the best we could have made. It was nice to arrive at our cabin with a snow blanket covering everything. It didn't take long to put up and take down our Christmas tree. I competed 13 digital LO's and 2 dbl. spread paper LO's since Christmas. I am very pleased with that accomplishment, since I have not been able to even think about scrapping the past few month. Starting digital scrapbooking was perfect for me this time around. I could use photos that I didn't had printed yet, and even the newest photos just taken during this vacation and best of all, I didn't make a mess.

To show of my work I am adding a digital LO I created about me, using supplies from Jessica Spragues class Up and Running, which is a must take for beginners :)
